Allegro
This movement benefits from two very powerful forms, the rondo and the sonata-allegro forms. The structure of this movement is modified as follows:

Exposition (A B A B' A)
Development (using material from both A and B)
Recapitulation (A B'')
Coda.

The themes of the third movement are light and tuneful. For this reason, the return of the melody after the development section is satisfying and rewarding. The two themes are first presented in the orchestra and repeated by the trumpet. Haydn shows a knowledge of the solo instrument; the themes are well suited to the trumpet enhancing the tonal colors and articulations specific to the instrument.
